The Lotus Initiative

"The lotus, whose petals open one by one, will only grow from mud. In order to grow from our past, reconnect to our natural beauty, we must first have the mud. Our challenges: pain, illness, death, etc. We all face the same obstacles. Yoga is a path to wisdom that allows us to grow through the mud."

The Lotus Initiative is the initial dream and purpose of Asana Awakening Yoga Project brought to fruition. When AAYP was first founded, our goal was to bring retreats and yoga experiences to those in our community focused on healing, but that may not have the means to do so; unfortunately, much of westernized yoga is out of reach financially for those that need it most. We began our mission by bringing yoga to our community over the past year through over 100 donation based and free yoga experiences, but now we plan to officially expand into retreats as we initially envisioned. If you apply for The Lotus Initiative, not only will you be able to attend all free/donation-based experiences (donations are appreciated but never expected), but you will also be considered for free (at no cost to you) sponsored spots at our fundraising events and retreats. Upcoming retreats and experiences will be a mix of paid and sponsored attendees, so no one will know who paid and who didn't. We want to bring everyone together in community!

Please do not apply if you have the financial means to attend. For context, paid experiences (such as fundraisers) and retreats range anywhere from $77 to over $1,000, so if you want to apply exclusively for retreats, please specify below. However, if you do not have the financial means to attend (only you know this, we will not be asking you any financial personal information), please feel free to apply for all of the above -I'm serious- do not feel bad and PLEASE apply, that is what this Nonprofit was founded for!
